Spain’s sleeping accommodations are plentiful, ranging from pure luxury to bare-bones. One interesting option, characteristic of Spain, is what is called a Parador (Paradores de Turismo de España). Paradors collectively comprise a successful network of state-run hotels that are usually located in close proximity to cultural monuments. Found throughout the mainland of Spain, Medieval castles, fortresses, monasteries, and old palaces have been restored to function as Paradors, providing visitors with a great way to experience Spain's historical heritage. In adjunct to the accommodations--outfitted with a full range of modern amenities-- Paradors also boast a network of renowned restaurants, featuring modern adaptations of traditional recipes.
